For the information of local residents, please below the letter from National Grid to the Parish Council, section 56 notice and the site location plan. The Parish Council will be finalising their response at an Extra Ordinary Parish Council Meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 11th July 2023 at Pebmarsh Village Hall, Committee Room.
Dear Pebmarsh Parish Council,
National Grid (Bramford to Twinstead Reinforcement) Development Consent Order
Notice of Acceptance of Application for a Development Consent Order by the Secretary of State (Application Reference No: EN020002)
Section 56, Planning Act 2008
Regulation 8, Infrastructure Planning (Applications: Prescribed Forms and Procedure) Regulations 2009
Regulation 16, The Infrastructure Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017
You should have previously received correspondence from National Grid about our intention to reinforce the electricity transmission network between the existing Bramford Substation in Suffolk, and Twinstead Tee in Essex. This would be achieved by the construction and operation of a new electricity transmission line over a distance of approximately 29 km. We submitted our application for development consent to the Planning Inspectorate on 27 April 2023.
Our application was accepted for examination on 23 May 2023 and now progresses to the next phase in the Development Consent Order planning process, which is known as the ‘Pre-Examination’ phase. During this phase you have a set period of time to register with the Planning Inspectorate to become an Interested Party by making a Relevant Representation.
Being an Interested Party allows you to make representations about the application and ensures you are informed of the progress of the Examination, (the phase following the Pre-Examination phase, which lasts for up to six months), as well as being notified of the final decision. A Relevant Representation is a summary of a person’s or organisation’s views on an application, made in writing.
The enclosed notice explains how to make a Relevant Representation.
The period to register as an Interested Party by making a Relevant Representation closes at 23:59 on 18 July 2023.
We are contacting you because you are either a prescribed consultee under section 42(1)(a) of the 2008 Act or a relevant local authority for the purposes of sections 42(1)(b) and (c) of the 2008 Act. This is therefore a formal notice that you have until 18 July 2023 to make a Relevant Representation to the Planning Inspectorate should you wish to register to become an Interested Party.
Enclosed with this letter is a copy of the formal section 56 notice published in accordance with section 56(7) of the 2008 Act and regulation 8 of the 2009 Regulations, and a map showing where the Project could be sited/routed. A copy of the accepted application (including the Environmental Statement) can be found on the Planning Inspectorate’s website here. Together, these enclosures constitute notice of the accepted application which we are required to give you in line with section 56(2) of the 2008 Act, regulation 8 of the 2009 Regulations and regulation 16 of the 2017 Regulations.
If you have any enquiries in relation to the application and its accompanying documents, plans and maps, please contact National Grid by emailing contact@bramford-twinstead.nationalgrid.com, by writing to FREEPOST B TO T REINFORCEMENT, or by telephoning 0808 196 1515.
Yours faithfully,
